Questions you need to ask your premium builder before signing up
A brand new custom home design is a large undertaking, one not to be considered lightly. Of course you’ll want to make sure you have the best builder on the job, as this will determine the quality and finish of your home. Not only that, but the right builder will make sure you complete your luxury home on time and to budget.

1. Is my completion date and budget fixed?
Don’t be let down by a builder that over-promises and under-delivers. Make sure your builder offers you a fixed price contract as well as a firm completion date. At Exclusive Residence we aim for completion in under 12 months. While this is ambitious for most, in the last six years we have completed over 50 custom home designs in less than 11 months.
2. How will you keep me informed of progress?
A communication breakdown can lead to a lot of stress and worry. If you don’t know how your project is tracking along or only get occasional updates, how can you be confident in your builder’s ability to stick to the task and keep things on schedule? With more than 19,000 building approvals issued in January 2015 alone according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, you want to be sure that your WA Builder is focused on completing your project and isn’t stretched too thin.
Exclusive Residence’s process includes a proprietary customer portal which is consistently updated with photos of your new build as it takes shape. You can access this anywhere you have an internet connection, meaning you can keep an eye on progress at all times. You’ll also receive a weekly progress report from your personal point of contact.
3. What is your experience in the industry?
Experience in building speaks for itself, and you only want to work with the best. Inexperienced work can be shoddy work and should be avoided at all costs. Not only is Exclusive Residence a time-proven builder in the Perth and WA region, but we have numerous awards from Master Builders Australia and the Housing Industry Association for Excellence in Construction.
Membership of Master Builders Australia is also a good indicator of the quality of your builder’s work and provides consumers with peace of mind. Master Builders has around 33,000 registered member companies around Australia, but this is less than half the number out there according to the Australian Mines and Metals Association. With only a 50/50 chance you need to make sure you don’t get stuck with someone you can’t rely by asking for a Master Builder to complete your project.
